Catch First Glimpse Of India’s First RRTS Train

New Delhi : The first look of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) train has been revealed. This will be the first train in India to run at a speed of 180 km per hour. At the same time, this entire train is being constructed under ‘Make in India’. The first look of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) train was released through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Durgashankar Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, said that infrastructure is one of the five pillars of self-reliant India through Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is a matter of great pride that these high speed, high frequency trains for RRTS are being manufactured completely under the government’s ‘Make in India’.

The Secretary said that environmentally friendly, energy efficient trains made of stainless steel will improve the quality of life in NCR by accelerating economic growth, creating economic opportunities and reducing air pollution, congestion and accidents. Its speed will be 180 kilometers per hour.

He informed that the trains will be light and fully air-conditioned. Each will have six automatic plug-in type wide doors. In addition there will be an onboard Wi-Fi facility with overhead luggage rack, mobile / laptop charging socket and other computer-centric features.

At the same time by 2022, the first prototype of this train will be built and will be brought for public use after testing. The entire rolling stock of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor will be prepared at the Savli plant in Bombardier, Gujarat.
