City builder duped of Rs 63 lakh, files plaint

Pune: A case has been registered against a cop attached with city police and director of Shubh Tradebiz India Limited’s for defrauding a businessman who had invested in the latter’s company.

A resident of Nanded City, builder Nikhil Mirge, 29, lodged a complaint at Sinhagad Road police station in this regard. He has invested Rs 63 lakh in the company, while he got only Rs 3.87 lakh in return.

According to the complainant, the accused assured him gold and a four-wheeler for investing in the company. However, even after investing the money, he was not given the perks as offered.
The police officer even allegedly threatened the businessman at gunpoint to implicate him in a false case if he asked his money back. This incident took place between July 2020 and January 2021.

Based on his complaint, Abhijit Dhondiba Sawant, Director, Shubh Tradebiz India Limited Liability Partnership Company and police officer Santosh Sawant have been charged under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

All the accused conspired and lured Mirge into investing in the company by promising him good returns. They earned his trust by promising him prizes like two-wheeler, car and gold. To make him believe, they advertised their offer in newspapers and social media, the police said.

Police are further investigating the case.
