New Delhi : The Foreign Ministers of India and China met for about two and a half hours in Moscow amid the ongoing tension along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). During the meeting between Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, a 5-point agreement was reached to end tension on the border. At the same time, both sides have agreed that the talks will continue and the process of removing the troops will be expedited.

A two-and-a-half-hour meeting between Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese counterpart Wang Yi was held in Moscow on Thursday to end the tense atmosphere at the border and to withdraw troops. Leaders of both countries are in Moscow to attend the meeting of SCO foreign ministers. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar met China counterpart Wang Yi during Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meet.
The Indian Foreign Ministry said that during the meeting, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi agreed that to develop India-China relations, both sides should seek guidance from a series of consensus of the leaders and the differences should not be allowed to become a dispute.

The joint statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said that the two ministers’ had a clear and constructive discussion on the developments in India-China border areas as well as on India-China relations.
According to the statement, both sides have agreed that dialogue should continue, expedite the process of withdrawing troops, maintain proper distance and reduce tension. All this is happening at a time when India and China are being accused of firing each other in the air, which has become the latest flashpoint in the border dispute.

Meanwhile, sources in the government claim that during the meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Foreign Minister Jaishankar categorically stated that this is expected to fully comply with all agreements on the management of border areas and unilaterally maintain the status quo. Any attempt to change will not be accepted.

During their meeting in Moscow, the Indian and Chinese foreign ministers agreed that as the situation eased, both sides should expedite work on new measures to maintain peace and tranquility and confidence in the border areas.
According to the news agency ANI, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that in a meeting with India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that it is normal for China and India to have differences as 2 neighboring countries. But it is important that these differences be put in the context of proper bilateral relations.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Yi underlined China’s strict position on the situation in the border areas, as well as emphasized that the shootings and other dangerous acts of incitement should be stopped immediately that violate the promises of both sides.

During the meeting, the Chinese Foreign Minister also said that the border troops should be withdrawn as soon as possible so that the situation doesn’t worsen. The Chinese side is ready for advanced talks on both sides to resolve specific issues.
During this important meeting, Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said that the Indian side does not want to increase the tension in the border areas. India’s policy regarding China has not changed. The Indian side believes that there has been no change in China’s policy towards India.
It was claimed by the Chinese Foreign Ministry that during a long meeting between the two leaders, a five-point consensus was reached about the current situation.
