India crossed 6 crores of testing just within 8 months

New Delhi: Coronavirus patients are rapidly increasing in India. However, India is taking every possible steps to overcome and manage increasing coronavirus infections. India had tested more than 6 crore samples. On Wednesday, 11,36,613 corona samples were examined. It took the country about eight months to conducted 6,05,65,728 test.

The first COVID-19 sample in India was tested on 23 January at the National Institute of Virology of the Indian Council of Medical Research, Pune.

In the month of January India had only one NIV (National Institute of Virology) lab. Since then the country has added a total of 1,751 labs in its network in the government and private sector. Among them, 1059 ar3 government laboratories and 659 are private laboratories. An ICMR official, on the condition of anonymity, said that labs for corona test are being added on a daily basis after proper approval.

For the last three weeks, on an average, India has tested one million coronavirus samples every day. These also include RT-PCR and rapid antigen tests.

According to data released by ICMR, the Rapid Antigen Test accounts for 40% of the test so far. As of 8 April, total tests donr were10,000. However, by 3 May this figure had increased to one million and 5 million by 10 June, 10 million by 7 July and it crossed 60 million (6 million) on Wednesday. .

According to the latest figures from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the average test conducted in the country this week showed an increase of 0.5 million between July 29 and August 4. However, the positive cases are increasing in the state where tests are done on large scale. Coronavirus positive rate in the country is 8.4 percent, in Maharashtra it is 21.5 percent, 12.3 percent in Andhra Pradesh and 12.1 percent in Karnataka.

According to the data released, more than 97000 new cases have been reported in the country for the last 24 hours. The total number of cases has crossed 51 lakhs.
