Online Voter Registration: Citizens urge to speed up process

Pune: The ongoing voter registration drive is soon going to get close by December 20. Residents of several housing societies have urged the officials to quickly approve online applications before it gets close. The State Election office focuses on speeding up(Voter Registration) the entire process of voter ID card registration and approving online applications for the issuing of new voter ID cards.

The regular summary revision of the voters’ list started on  November 17 and will end by December 20, however many residents’ applications got rejected due to address proof issues, many residents complained that these drives should be advertised more, people are hardly aware.

The Sarpanch of Sus gram panchayat are doing their bit, Pankaj Damale of the Sus-Mahalunge residents’ association said, “Having faced issues during the previous elections, our group is active on social media for the registration process.

Pune collector Rajesh Deshmukh said that election officials have already been told to speed up online registration with due checks. “We have already directed BLOs to speed up the process.’’

Residents have taken to social media to urge citizens to register, especially in the light of the pandemic and the poor turnout for Graduates’ and teachers’ constituencies held on Tuesday.
