Pimpri-Chinchwad : Suspects take along wireless set fallen in car while escaping police action for mask

Pune: Wakad police are on a look out for three persons who were driving a car and drove away with the wireless set of a traffic constable, which fell into their car, while the cop was trying to stop them. The incident took place on Wednesday around 2.45pm at Shivar Chowk in Rahatni.
According to police, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sanjay Kamte (53) was on duty when this whole incident took place. Kamte spotted a car with three passengers not wearing masks. While holding his walkie-talkie in one hand, Kamte approached the car and told the driver to stop by the roadside. Meanwhile, the signal turned green and the driver sped away. The car bumped against Kamte’s hand and the wireless set fell inside the car.
Assistant Inspector Avinash Pawar said, “Kamte could not note down the car’s registration number as other vehicles started rushing forward. Pawar further added that we are studying the CCTV camera footage in the areas to identify the registration number of the car. A complaint has been registered under section 186 (obstructing a public servant from discharging duty), and section 353 (assault or criminal force on public servant) and section 379 (theft) of the Indian penal code.”
