Pune: Kharadi hospital overcharged PPE kit 20 times, asked to refund money to patient

The district administration and Pune municipal corporation (PMC) conducted an enquiry for the allegation and found out that the hospital is overcharging for the medical bills and also for the PPE kits.
The farmer was forced to pay Rs 81,900 for 13 PPE kits and a total amount of 4.46 lakh. The 13 kits were used for 13 days and he was treated in the hospital.
Not only this the patient was not discharged until he didn’t pay the full amount of the hospital and for which he had to borrow money from relatives so that he could get discharge from the hospital. The hospital told him the reason for charging so much that the hospital is taking a lot of pain in treating people in such a pandemic situation that is why they are charging such a huge amount. When the farmer was left with no option he went to the health department and health minister rajesh tope helped him out of the situation.
Patient said that he was happy that the health department’s authorities helped him out. Chandrakant Warghade, President of Mahiti Sewa Samiti group also helped him out and said that they are going to escalate the issue and book the hospital under the disaster management act 2005.
Whereas the medical director of the hospital mentioned that the patient was given concession at the time of discharge itself.
