Pune: A 25-year-old nephew killed his 55-year-old uncle in a fit of rage on Tuesday (October 20) early morning at Talegaon Dabhade. The nephew also set on fire the dead body inside the house in order to destroy the evidence.

The deceased has been identified as Vijaysingh Bhagwansingh Zaveri (55), a resident of Jadhav Chawl in Talegaon Dabhade. Police have arrested and identified the suspect as Narayan Vijaysingh Zaveri (25). A complaint has been filed against Narayan by Meena Vijaysingh Zaveri (47) at the Talegaon police station.

According to police, complainant Meena Zaveri belongs to Indore in Madhya Pradesh. She stays in Talegaon along with her son Sudarshan, daughter-in-law Vishakha and one-year-old grandson. Meena’s husband Vijaysingh had undergone a surgery for a brain tumor about twenty years back. He was bed ridden for the last five to six months. Since her husband was ill, Meena had called upon Leelabai Chavan for household help.

Meena’s younger brother Vijaysingh Gulabsingh Zaveri was also staying at Talegaon next to Meena’s house. Vijaysingh Gulabsingh Zaveri’s son Narayan used to harass the family members as he was addicted to liquor. On Tuesday early morning he came to Meena’s house and asked her to open the door. When she refused to open the door, Narayan broke open the door with a wooden stick. He had cement bricks in his hand. He threatened to kill all if he wasn’t allowed to sleep in their house. Meena Zaveri and Leelabai Chavan managed to escape from the house and locked the door from outside. They ran to the police station to inform police about this. Meanwhile, Narayan killed Meena’s husband and set his body on fire.

Narayan was taken into custody by Talegaon police. He was produced in court later. He has been remanded to judicial custody by the court.
