Pune: Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta visited the office of ‘Deccan Express’ on Friday. In a candid conversation with the team of Deccan Express, the top cop expressed his confidence to bring ‘normalcy’ back in the city on all fronts by overcoming existing challenges.
Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta spoke about several measures taken by him to keep the crime rate in city under control. He said, “When I took charge of the city, I instructed my officers and all personnel to act in the interest of common citizens. There were challenges on several fronts. Organised crime had to be tackled on priority and hence action under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) was taken against those involved with these syndicates.”
The re-structuring of certain departments of Pune Police force by Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has also been received well from the entire police department and other sections of the society.
Elaborating on this, Gupta said, “The functioning of these departments has been simplified. All officers and personnel have also accepted these changes positively and wholeheartedly. This has helped us take effective action and reduce the crime rate in the city.”
