Pune: The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Pune Rural Police has arrested a gang of robbers who under the pretext of giving a lift to a pedestrian, took them to a secluded place and looted their valuables.(gang of robbers)Two complaints of thefts have been recorded against them and a case has been registered against them at Daund police station.

The accused have been identified as Omkar alias Kaka Mahendra Gawde (21), Rajesh Sambhaji Bibe (19), Ajay Dnyaneshwar Pawar, Vishal Dilip Atole (24), all from Daund. Sanjay Mishrilal Munot (54) has lodged a complaint at Daund police station.

According to the police, the complainant Munot landed at Kurkumbh by ST bus from Barshi on the night of December 5 around 9.30 pm. He was waiting for the vehicle to return back home to Daund. At that time, an unidentified person gave him a lift on the bike. He was then taken to an uninhabited place and the thieves stole his mobile phone, cash, two gold rings and a watch worth Rs 1.94 lakh.

While investigating the case, the crime branch police came to know that some accused had come to Kurkubh to sell stolen gold. Based on the information received, the police set a trap and arrested the accused. During interrogation, he confessed to committing two counts of robbery in Daund area. Police have seized Rs 2.26 lakh from them.

This mission was accomplished under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Dr Abhinav Deshmukh, Baramati Additional Superintendent of Police Milind Mohite, Daund Sub-Divisional Officer Rahul Dhas and led by Senior Inspector of Local Crime Branch Padmakar Ghanwat, Assistant Inspector of Police Prithviraj Tate, Constables Mahesh Gaikwad, Nilesh Kadam, Sachin Gaikwad, Guru Gaikwad, Subhash Raut, Dagdu Virkar.
