Pune: Seven from Indapur nabbed for illegal fishing

Pune: There are several waterbodies in the state where fishing is not allowed and one has to face fine and charged if he’s caught while doing so. Seven people from Indapur have been detained by the Indapur police for fishing in a restricted areas of Ujani dam backwaters.

According to the police report, hundreds of small fishes were caught by these offenders, put them to dry besides the waterbody and then were transferred to 48 gunny bags ready to be taken in a tempo for sale.

Narayan Banare (43), Rohidas Banare (21), Akash Banare (20), Vilas Banare (29), Vitthal Gavhane (26), Balasaheb Chitare (38) and Eknath Vichare (28) have been arrested by the cops and confiscated the fishes worth around Rs.6,20,200.
