Shaheen Bagh fame Bilkis Dadi makes to TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People 2020 list

New Delhi: TIME magazine, one of the world’s most prestigious magazine, has released the list of world’s most influential people of the year 2020. This year’s list has some old and new faces. Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, what makes the list stand out this time is the name of 82-year-old Bilkis Dadi, who has been the face of Shaheen Bagh’s demonstrations. The list also includes other names such as Sundar Pichai and Bollywood actors Ayushman Khurana, Ravinder Gupta and others.

Last year, the Modi government passed the Citizenship Amendment Act, after which protests were held across the country. In the capital city Delhi, protest were staged against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Shaheen Bagh area where Bilkis Dadi earned her name worldwide. The demonstrations at Shaheen Bagh became the hallmark of the entire movement across country.

Time has once again listed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi the most effective leader. The magazine stated, “He is the biggest in a democracy who has got the most votes.” India is the largest democracy in the world, where people of every religion live.”

Further magazine wrote, “The Bharatiya Janata Party came to power with the promise of employment, but after that it has got into many controversies and after that India is now facing the threat of Coronavirus crisis.”

Every year the TIME magazine list includes people from different region and different field. This year it also has names of big leaders like US President Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Angela Merkel, Nancy Paulosi in their list of most influential leaders.
