Sharad Pawar to meet farmers in flood affected areas

Mumbai : The return rains and torrential rains lashed western Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha. Wednesday’s cloudburst flooded several rivers. Four people died in floods in Pune district. 14 killed in Solapur. Many agricultural areas have been submerged. Against this backdrop, NCP’s Sharad Pawar will visit Marathwada. The former agriculture minister will soon meet farmers of  flood-hit areas.
Videos of farmers’ outrage and pain are going viral on social media. Sharing a similar video, MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar advised Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to get out of the house. ‘Chief Minister, leave the house and get out, we have been avoiding direct criticism of you but now the situation of farmers due to heavy rains can not be seen “online”.” Bala Nandgaonkar advised Uddhav Thackeray to get out of the house. However, senior leader of Mahavikas Aghadi and MP Sharad Pawar will go to meet farmers.
Sharad Pawar is going on a two-day tour of Marathwada and will visit Tuljapur, Umarga, Ausa, Paranda and Osmanabad district. According to the information received, the two-day inspection tour will be held on October 18 and 19.
The return rains have devastated Marathwada and western Maharashtra. Crops ready to be harvested in the fields have been damaged due to heavy rains. Soybean, cotton and sugarcane crops have been severely damaged. Due to the low pressure belt in the Bay of Bengal and the cyclone, it has been raining in many places for the past three days.
According to preliminary estimates, over 4.5 lakh hectares of crops were damaged in 23 districts. The soybean crop has been hit the most. Cotton crop along with tur and paddy has also been damaged. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) units have been deployed at Osmanabad, Solapur, Pandharpur and Baramati. The Air Force, Navy and Army have been instructed to remain on high alert for immediate assistance. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has directed all agencies to be vigilant to prevent any loss of life.
