Thane: Shahid Sheikh, one of the accused in the murder of MNS Rabodi office-bearer Jamil Sheikh has been remanded judicial custody for 15 days as his police custody expired on Tuesday. Hence, he will be sent to Thane Central Jail.

Sheikh was shot dead on November 23 in Rabodi. At that time, Shahid was riding a motorcycle. The investigation had revealed that his accomplice, who was sitting behind him, had shot at Jamil. Meanwhile, Jamil died before he could be admitted to the hospital. The incident had created an atmosphere of immense tension in Rabodi. The entire case is being investigated by a team of Unit One of Thane Crime Branch.

Shahid Sheikh was arrested from Rabodi on November 25 by a team led by senior Police Inspector Nitin Thackeray based on information provided by reporters and technical analysis. His police custody was extended twice by the court after his arrest. His remand ended on December 8. Therefore, the Thane police produced him in court again on Tuesday. Police were seeking one more day of police custody.

The search for Shahid’s accomplices is also pending. The revolver used in the murder has not been found yet. All these matters were again brought before the court by the police. However, the court refused police custody and sent Shahid in judicial custody for 14 days. Shahid was taken to Thane District Central Jail on Tuesday. If necessary, Shahid will be remanded in custody for questioning with the permission of the court.
