New Delhi: University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday, released a new academic calendar for colleges and universities. The new academic session of colleges and universities across the country will begin this time in November. The college have to organise classes 6 days a week to compensate the studies which was missed due to the lockdown. The UGC has cancelled winter and summer holidays in universities.

According to the latest calendar, the academic session for freshers will now start in November instead of September and this delay will continue till the next academic session as well.

The latest UGC guidelines state that the admission process for first year students should be completed by 31 October and classes for the first semester should start from 1 November onwards. If the final decision is not made by Home Ministry on physically reopening of schools and colleges by November, then the freshers will start their college studies online.

While classes for the batch starting from 1 November will also be delayed in 2021, these students will go to another year on 30 August 2021. To compensate for the loss of academic time, the UGC has asked colleges to teach six days a week for the next two academic sessions without any summer or winter vacation. With this, graduation and post graduation of students will be completed on time.
