Pune: Jeev Seva Foundation appeals citizens to 'adopt' rabbits rescued from Shri Adinath Society

Pune: Jeev Seva Foundation has appealed to citizens to ‘adopt’ rabbits rescued from the garden of Shri Adinath Society on C D Deshmukh Road (Pune-Satara Road) near Marketyard.

The foundation had rescued around 50 to 60 rabbits and some exotic fish which were kept at the Adinath Society garden, reportedly for ‘entertainment’ of children and visitors. The foundation alleged that rabbits and fish were deprived of basic food, water, medical and shelter facilities.

Animal lover and Jeev Seva Foundation President Amit Shah had then registered FIR against Adinath Society former chairman Mahendra Jain and secretary Rahul Mehta at Swargate police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Wildlife Protection Act 1972 and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960.

A press release by Jeev Foundation stated that a judicial magistrate (first class) court here has issued an interim order to adopt the rabbits and release the fish into the natural reservoir.

In the press statement, Shah says, “After hearing all sides, the court has passed an order to hand over the rabbits to Jeev Seva Foundation and release the fish into the natural water reservoir. After a lot of efforts, we managed to get justice for the speechless animals and fishes.”

“Presently we are taking care of these rabbits. As rabbits are very delicate animals, it is important to find caring families to adopt them so that they get loving homes. Hence I humbly request the citizens of Pune city, to support this noble cause and come forward to adopt these speechless and innocent souls”, Shah said.

For Adoption, citizens can contact Amit Shah on his number 9822195092, the release stated.
