Ahmedabad : The trial of the third phase of the indigenous vaccine COVAXIN began on Wednesday at Sola Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad. The Gujarat government had appealed to the people to come forward for the trial of this vaccine but only five volunteers have come forward in two days. Only five volunteers have been vaccinated on Wednesday, the first day and four on Thursday.
It was hoped that research into the corona vaccine would help and that people would flock for the vaccine. Instead, the authorities are worried about a very weak response. Experts believe that people do not come forward to get vaccinated for fear of side effects caused by the vaccine. Many people have inquired about this vaccine but only five volunteers have been vaccinated.
ICMR, Bharat Biotech and the National Institute of Virology, Poona have jointly started the trial of Phase-3 of the indigenous COVAXIN developed in Sola Civil.
