Pune: The life of an artist is not so easy has proven to be correct as another suicide of an artist came to light. A 21 year old dancer and actor took her life for not being able to work due to coronavirus. Vishakha Kale, sister of Priyanka Kale who is also an artist committed suicide on Tuesday at her residential house due to financial crisis raised out of coronavirus induced lockdown.
Pre- pandemic, Vishakha Kale was working in Maharashtrachi gaurav Gatha directed by Manoj Manjhire, Maharashtrachi lokdhara, Garja Maharashtra, Aai Jijjai Series, Lavani events and many more.
Vishakaha’s both parents are blind and she was the breadwinner of the house. However, she was tired of the economic crunch due to the unavailability of work. Since 5 to 6 months financial status of the family was deteriorating leading Vishakha to take such a major step. The last rites of the artist were attended by 6 to 7 people.
Maharashtra has already witnessed the suicides of 6 artists. In such a situation, the Maharashtra government needs to pay attention towards the financial issue of artists. Earlier, Ramchandra Indrani Kamath well- known artist committed suicide. In month of July, Marathi actor Ashutosh Bhakre allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in Nanded town in the Marathwada region citing depression.
