New Delhi : There is a lot of cheating going on these days of the festival. So consumers need to be vigilant. In Madhya Pradesh too, the police have alerted the public as some similar incidents have come to light. It is being speculated that during these festive days, you may be tempted by various offers. There have been incidents where people were being deceived by claiming to be bank managers. Police have recently arrested a gang involved in such fraud.

The gang has been arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Cyber Crime Police while investigating a case. R. B. Agarwal from Bhopal had lodged a complaint with the police in this regard. He was cheated by an unidentified accused claiming to be a bank manager. He asked for the OTP number on his phone saying that he wanted to update KYC and used it to withdraw Rs 43,000 from his bank account.

The police had registered a case against the unidentified accused under sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation revealed that the accused was from Bihar. The accused, identified as Naresh Yadav, has been arrested by the police.

The investigation revealed that the accused had a complete gang. They called people and lied that they are the bank manager. They would then take them into confidence and tell them that he needed information to complete the KYC of the bank account. If you do not do KYC of the account, it will be closed. So many people in fear gave all their information to them. The accused then took victim’s debit card number, CVV number and OTP and transferred the money from his account to his own account.

Giving information in this regard, Additional SP of Cyber Crime Sandesh Jain said that during the festive season, these people keep an eye on the bank accounts of the citizens. Police have appealed not to give your bank account information to any unknown person. Police have also appealed for caution when shopping online. Due to the large number of online sales on the eve of Diwali, citizens use their debit card information to shop online and online fraudsters take advantage of this and rob citizens’ bank accounts.
