Pune: The central government has asked states to establish a state and district level coordination mechanism to review the preparations for rolling out Covid-19 vaccine as and when the necessary approvals are given.
Initially the task force and steering committees will take up review of cold chain preparedness and status of database compilation of health care workers. While other activities like session site micro planning, IEC plan, capacity building of HR etc may be added as and when guidelines on the same are sent by the central government.
What is the mechanism?
District Level:
A district task force will be formed which will be headed by the district magistrate. Members of the task force will meet once a week for overall management of the entire process of introduction of Covid-19 vaccine in their respective districts.
State Level:
A state steering committee will be formed. It will be chaired by the Chief Secretary of the state. It will meet at least a month. Its role will be of oversight on planning and implementation of various activities and ensuring inter-departmental coordination will all the concerned departments and mobilization of resources.
A state task force will be formed which will be headed by the Principal Secretary of Health Department. Members of the task force will meet at least every fortnight. They will ensure smooth implementation of various activities related to Covid-19 vaccine introduction along with its monitoring and midcourse correction.
