Pune: Next time if you happen to park your vehicle in a no parking zone anywhere in the city and your vehicle is towed, be ready to pay 10 per cent extra charges. The private agency engaged by the police department for towing of vehicles, has increased their charges by 10 per cent as per agreement. Thus, if your two-wheeler or car is towed away then you will have to pay Rs 460 or Rs 720 respectively.

In order to not draw fines and to save yourself from not paying extra for towing charges one must ensure that he/she doesn’t park the vehicle in a no-parking zone. A person who has parked their vehicle in no-parking areas, has to pay the original fine amount, separate towing charges if the vehicle is towed and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the total amount. So henceforth, for two-wheelers you will have to spend Rs.460 and a fine of Rs 720 for four-wheelers will be levied. The vehicles which are parked wrongly are picked by the hydraulic cranes, the towing fees for two-wheelers has been increased by Rs 20 and for four-wheelers by Rs 40.

New charges of the fines imposed by the traffic police

A fine of Rs 200 is levied by the traffic police for parking a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler in a no-parking area. Initially, two-wheeler towing was fined Rs 200, Rs 200 fine from the police and Rs 36 of goods and services tax (GST) which led to a total of Rs 436.

Now, two-wheeler towing has been increased by Rs 20 and four-wheeler towing by Rs 40. The increase in the amount has also led to an increase in the GST. So now for a two-wheeler, you will have to pay Rs 220 for towing, Rs 200 fine and Rs 40 GST. Four-wheelers are being charged Rs 440 for towing, Rs 200 fine and Rs 80 GST which amounts to Rs 720 in total.
