Pune: The Cantonment court under section 156 (3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure directed the Hadapsar police to register FIR against a woman, four years after her husband allegedly ended his life.
The deceased man Krishnanand Gupta’s (30) father Kanhaiyya from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh had filed a private complaint in the Cantonment court regarding the death of his son. He had alleged that the woman and her family were spying on his son over suspicion of him having an extra-marital affair. The woman and her family allegedly harrassed the man physically and mentally and thus provoking him to take the extreme step of ending his life.
Krishnanand had died by suicide on April 12, 2016. He used to live with his wife in Zenia society. According to Kanhaiyya Gupta (60), Krishnanand’s wife suspected that he had an affair before marriage, and thus she spied and tortured him mentally and physically. She and her parents also threatened him of filing a false case against his family. His father, Kanhiyya alleged that tired of this harassment, Krishnanand ended his life on April 13, 2016.
