Pune: Kothrud MLA Chandrakant Patil launched the ‘Namo’s hand tool for sanitation workers on Sunday at Kothrud.He also said that this tool should be made available to all sanitation workers. The tool has been designed by Sudhir Barve, who has recently returned to India from UK.
Creative Foundation had organised the program. Sandeep Khardekar, president of the foundation, gifted a tool to MLA Patil during the program. BJP Corporators Manjushri Khardekar, Deepak Pote, BJP Kothrud Mandal President Puneet Joshi and others were present on the occasion.

MLA Patil said, “Sanitation workers face many problems while working everyday. They have to use their hands or cardboard or other things to pick the waste lying on the road. The tool designed by Sudhir Barve is thoughtfully made and I will try that it should be made available to all sanitation workers.”
Khardekar said, “Everybody should take inspiration from Sudhir Barve. He has taken the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan forward by designing this useful took for the sanitation workers.”

Barve said, “I was disappointed to see that sanitation workers had to use their hands to collect the waste lying on road. That inspired me to design a tool which will help them collect the waste easily without touching or using their hands. It will also help them maintain personal hygiene while working. The tool will be made available at PMC, Zilla Parishad and Gram Panchayat at affordable rates.”
