Pune University and ICAI enter into educational MoU

Pune : The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) have signed an educational memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide practical, skill and employment oriented education to Commerce students and faculty.It will be helpful to extend academic co-operation for various commerce courses of the University, conduct faculty development programs for staff of University, to facilitate students seeking jobs with CA firms, enhance knowledge skill sets of students through webinars and seminars.

SPPU Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar and CA Nihar Jambusaria exchanged MoU at the occasion. Dr N S Umrani, Pro Vice-Chancellor, SPPU, Dr. Prafulla Pawar, Registrar, SPPU, CA Chandrashekhar Chitale, CCM, ICAI, Dr. SB Zaware, Chair of AOSSG, CA Lalit Bajaj, chairman of WIRC of ICAI, CA Abhishek Dhamne, Chairman of Pune ICAI, CA Sameer Laddha, Vice-Chairman of Pune ICAI, CA Kashinath Pathare, Secretary and Treasurer of Pune ICAI, CA Murtaja Kachwala, CA Rajesh Sharma, CA Hans Raj Chug, MS Jadhav, Uday Gujar, Dr. Apurva Palkar, Prasenjit Fadanvis, Dr. Parag Kalkar and other dignitaries were present.

Dr Karmalkar said, “Changes in the society need to take place in the university as well. Taking exams was a big challenge during the COVID-19. It was time to think about many errors during this period. We are signing MoU’s with different institutes. This is a positive step in terms of new education policy implementation.”

Jambusaria said, “This MoU with the university is a historic moment for all CA fraternity. Students will get theory as well as practical knowledge. It will enable students to work in companies while learning. It will enhance their experience. It will help CA’s to pursue post doctoral education as well.”

“Forty percent of the students in the university are in Commerce. This MoU will enhance the efficiency of the students. It will help in placement. The gap between Theory and practical knowledge will be filled. Better activities will be implemented for both faculty and students,” mentioned Dr N.S. Umrani.

CA Chandrasekhar Chitale added that the commerce branch has a great response from the students. However, they lack practical knowledge. With the help of chartered accountants, these students will get practical knowledge and work experience.

CA Abhishek Dhamne explained objectives of the MoU. ICAI Pune branch will conduct various activities, faculty development programs, seminars, webinars etc, added Dhamne.
