Sillod: Six months after Talathi Rahul Pandey from Sillod ended his life, the case has taken a different turn. Following a complaint by Pandey’s second wife, the police on Monday have registered a abetment of suicide case under Section 306 and 34 against five persons including the first wife, mother, cousin and sister and brother-in-law.

Rahul Pandey was working at Talathi Saja at Dongargaon, Anvi in the taluka. He jumped into the well on June 6 and died by suicide. Pandey was married twice. The first wife had parted ways with Rahul.

Meanwhile, Pandey married Jayashree Maheri from West Bengal on February 10, 2016 at a function organised in Shirdi. According to Jayashree’s complaint, the marriage was opposed by Pandey’s family. They always harassed Pandey and Jayashree by asking them to leave the house.

Fed up with the constant harassment, Pandey ended his life by jumping into a well in Sapkal Wadi, Jayashree has stated in her complaint.

Jayashree Maheri was in West Bengal when Pandey committed suicide. The funeral was held before she arrived. Jayashree Pandey complained that her father-in-law was responsible for husband’s death.

Sillod city police have now arrested Vijaya Ashok Pandey (mother), Ravindra Pralhad Pandey (cousin, resident of Dombivali), Reena Kishore Sharma and Kishore Ramesh Sharma (sister-Mevhana, resident of Pune), and Vaishali Amol Pandey (first wife, resident of Phulambri) and have been charged under sections 306 and 34.
