Work from home will be easier, central government relaxes rules for IT industry

New Delhi: During the Corona crisis, many companies allowed their employees to work from home. Meanwhile, the central government has announced further relaxation of rules for BPOs and IT-based service providers while giving relief to the tech industry. The government has relaxed most of the registration and compliance requirements, making it easier for companies to provide permanent work-from-home facilities.
The central government’s telecom department on Thursday announced significant changes in this regard. These changes have resulted in the termination of periodic reporting and other responsibilities on companies. There was a constant demand from the IT industry for relief in work from home. There was also a demand to continue this facility permanently.
OSPs are companies that provide application services, IT related facilities or any kind of outsourcing services using telecommunication tools. These companies are BPO, Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) called ITES and call center. The detailed guidelines published by the Department of Telecommunications will promote the work-from-home process. Expand Work from Home Work from Anywhere will be made available. It states that Extended Agent and Remote Agent (Work from Home / Anywhere) are approved with certain conditions.
It states that the in-house agent will be considered a remote agent of the OSP center and an internal connection will be permitted. Remote agents will be allowed to operate from anywhere in the country. The new rules are aimed at boosting the industry and making India the most competitive IT destination, an official statement said. The new rules will help the company adopt policies related to work from home and work from anywhere.
