Alwar Gang-rape Case : 5 men convicted, sentenced to life imprisonment

Alwar: All five accused have been convicted in the SC-ST court in Thangaji police station area of Alwar. The SC-ST court has pronounced its verdict in the most awaited Alwar gangrape case. Judge Brijesh Kumar has given this decision and sentenced all the 4 convicted to life imprisonment after the hearing was over. The convicted Hansraj has been sentenced to remain in jail till his last breath. While the fifth convict Mukesh has been sentenced to 5 years. During the verdict the court was surrounded with a huge crowd, adequate security arrangements have been made in the court premises.

The case was registered on May 2 last year

Alwar gang- rape case was registered last year on 2 May 2019 at Thanagaji Police Station, Alwar, which shook the entire state. On April 26, 2019, the five men had abducted the couple while they were travelling on a motorcycle in Thanagazi area of Alwar. They were taken at a deserted spot. The 5 men raped the 18-year-old Dalit woman in front of her husband who was later thrashed. The crime was recorded and uploaded on social media by an accused.

After arresting all the accused on 18 May 2019, Thanagaji police had presented a charge sheet against 5 accused Ashok, Indraj, Mahesh, Hansraj and Chhotalal in the court. After pleading guilty in gangrape, dacoity, intimidation, illegal recovery and SC-ST Act, the IPC were pressed whereas Mukesh Kumar was convicted of making pornographic videos viral on social media.

IPC section 147, 149, 323, 341, 354b, 376d, 506, 342, 386, 384, 395,327,365 as well as various sections of the SC-ST Act against the 3 accused Chhote Lal, Indraj and Ashok on behalf of the police, IT Act 67 In all the sections of 67A, the chargesheet was presented assuming the accused as guilty. In addition to the sections against Hansraj along with his three associates, an additional section of 376 (2) N was invoiced. A challan was introduced against the fifth accused Mukesh in the IT Act 67.

The verdict comes ahead of nationwide outrage over crimes against dalit teen, after four upper-caste Thakur men brutally tortured and gangraped a Dalit woman in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. The woman succumbed to the injuries. The four men have been arrested.
