Pune: Dear Punekars, now you need not worry about charging your private electric vehicle if you are planning to buy or use one. Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has now decided to install charging stations inside their depots in the city. So electric vehicles charging in Pune will become easy as PMPML will be allowing private e-vehicles to use their charging stations.
The number of electric vehicles being used in the city is increasing. In the near future, there might be a shortage of charging stations for the large number of electric vehicles plying on the roads in the city. To overcome this challenge and indirectly increase the revenue of the PMPML, it has been decided to install charging stations at the PMPML depots. The investment for setting up these charging stations will be done by a company which will be selected after following due process. That company will also be responsible for executing and running these charging stations.
In return, PMPML will get rent for its land being utilised. A public notice will be issued soon to invite proposals for this project. Rajendra Jagtap, Managing Director of PMPML said, “Since the board of directors have approved this proposal, it will be implemented at the earliest. Private two-wheelers and four-wheelers will benefit from this initiative as they will get more electric vehicles charging Pune stations en-route their destinations.”
PMPML has also decided to rename their bus stops in the city. PMPML has more than 3000 bus stops in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad city limits. Of those, about 1000 bus stops will be renamed. The renaming process will be through an auction-process and a particular fee will be charged for the next five years from the bidder.
PMPML Revenue Generation Plan
– Hoardings and digital boards will be installed inside depots and major bus stops and given on rent
– Similar to airport, free wi-fi will be provided at the PMPML bus stops for a duration of 30 minutes.
– Renovation of vacant properties of PMPML will be done and those will be leased out
– Courier, Parcel service to be started by PMPML
