New Delhi : The Supreme Court has stayed the order of the Gujarat High Court regarding the punishment for not wearing a mask. Earlier, the Gujarat High Court had directed the government to punish those who do not wear masks by serving at the Covid Center, which has been stayed by the Supreme Court. It should be followed exactly. The Supreme Court had directed that the Gujarat government should strictly adhere to the central government’s guideline on wearing masks and maintaining social distance.

The Gujarat government had appealed to the Supreme Court against the direction of the Gujarat High Court. The Solicitor General of Gujarat had requested the Supreme Court to hear the matter today.

During the hearing, the Supreme court directed that states should not put up Covid19 positive posters outside the homes of Coronavirus positive patients. On the other hand, the Center said that there was no mention of sticking Covid19 positive posters in the guidelines of the Central Government. The Supreme court said the state government should strictly adhere to Corona’s guideline. It has also ordered a counter reply within four weeks.

The Gujarat High Court is angry over those who roam without wearing masks as the Corona transition is raging in the state. The High Court had taken a stern stance against those caught without masks. Following this, the Gujarat government was ordered to punish people with 5 to 6 hours of compulsory community service who are caught without masks at the Covid Care Center for 5 to 15 days.
