Pimpri Chinchwad : Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash says don’t trust messages in my name, Know why he says so

Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash has appealed to citizens to not believe in any message forwarded using his name. Commissioner Krishna Prakash had to appeal because some suspects have created a fake Facebook page in his name and have been demanding money from citizens. When this incident came to light, Commissioner Krishna Prakash has initiated action against the culprits while warning citizens to beware of such frauds.

According to a report by the daily Maharashtra Times, some suspects created a fake Facebook account in the name of Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash. A lot of common people were added to this account as ‘friends’. Later, the suspects started demanding money from these ‘friends’. Already many people have fallen prey to this fraud.

Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad police receive many complaints about cyber frauds every day. Police also undertake awareness drives to alert citizens about such fraudsters. However, now even the top cop has not been spared by these fraudsters.

Police and other government officials are using social media accounts in order to disseminate information of public interest to citizens. However, several people create parody accounts or fan accounts of such officers and celebrities in order to increase their social network followers and influence.

Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash has said that he is aware of such accounts and has assured to take strict action against the miscreants. He has also appealed to citizens to not believe in such messages or communication and avoid falling prey to such scamsters.
