Pune: Member of Legislative Assembly Madhuri Misal and her family members’ names went missing from the voters list of graduate constituency elections held on Tuesday (December 1). Interestingly, MLA Misal had herself enrolled 800 new voters in order to increase the awareness and voter turnout for the election.

Names of MLA Misal along with her two sons, brother Manoj Deshpande, sister-in-law and corporator Manasi were found missing in the voters list when they went to exercise their right. MLA Misal has lodged a complaint in this regard with the election commission officials.

Not only Misal, several other voters were also in surprise for various reasons. 60-year-old Sunil Chikate and his wife Anagha, both from Karve Nagar had enrolled themselves as voters before the elections. However, they received a message two days before the voting day stating that Sunil’s name has been included in the Hadapsar list while his wife’s name was included in Karve Nagar list of voters. Despite all odds, Sunil travelled all along from Karve Nagar to Hadapsar and voted for his choice of candidate.

There were about 62 candidates in the fray for Pune graduate constituency. Hence, the ballot paper had become quite lengthy. Several voters found it difficult to fold the ballot paper properly to insert it inside the box. Election officials had to help almost all voters to fold the ballot paper properly.
