Pune: Two-wheeler rider comes under PMPML bus wheel on Sinhagad Road; dies on the spot

Pune: A two-wheeler rider died on the spot at Manikbaug on Sinhagad Road after he came under the wheels of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus on Sunday morning. The accident victim was 67-year-old man working as a security personnel.

The deceased has been identified as Jayant Ramaji Mahadik (67), a resident of Narhe. A case has been registered at the Sinhagad Road police station in this regard.

The PMPML bus driver has been booked under charges of rash and negligent driving and causing death of the biker.

According to police, Mahadik was heading towards his home on Sunday morning. The PMPML bus was also heading from Swargate to Narhe. The PMPML bus came from behind and hit the bike being driven by Mahadik.

The accident took place in front of Jagtap hospital. The impact was such that Mahadik fell down from his bike and his head came under the wheels of the speeding bus.

Usually, the Sinhagad Road and Manikbaug area is less crowded on Sunday mornings. A large crowd gathered at the spot after the accident took place.

Sinhagad Road police were also informed about the incident after which a team of policemen rushed to the spot.
