Pune University startup incubation facility inaugurated

Pune: An incubation facility has been created at the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Enterprise (CIIE) of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) to promote budding entrepreneurs with innovative ideas.

The facility was inaugurated by Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, President of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on December 10. SPPU Vice Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Managing Director of Persistent Systems Dr Anand Deshpande were present during the inaugural function.

The CIIE startup incubation facility has been funded by the Maharashtra State Innovation Society. SPPU is the first university in the state to have created this facility and is working with 40 start-ups.

Dr Karmalkar said, “The facility has been started to enable the youth with an entrepreneurial mindset to convert their ideas into commercially viable businesses.”

Dr Apoorva Palkar, As many as 40 startups are being incubated in this facility which will help them expedite their work.”
