Pune: A research conducted by Pune-based Rasayu Cancer Clinic has proved that ‘Personalised Ayurvedic Rasayana Therapy’  over insomnia in cancer survivors leads to improved sleep quality and reduction in anxiety and depression and thus overall improvement in quality of life in cancer survivors.
The findings were presented by Vaidya Yogesh Bendale at the International Cancer Conference recently organized by the Korean Society of Medical Oncologists. The conference was organized in association with American Society of Clinical Oncologists. This is the second time in the last three months that the findings of a Rasayu’s research have been presented and accepted internationally. Vd. Yogesh Bendale, Vd. Vinita Bendale, Vd. Avinash Kadam,
Vd. Poonam Birari-Gawande and Vd. Anandrao Patil participated in this research.
Vd. Yogesh Bendale, Chairman & Managing Director of Rasayu Cancer Clinic said, “An individual is considered a cancer survivor from the time of diagnosis, through the balance of his or her life. The quality of life of a patient in the advance stage of cancer is considered important in global research. In India, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research, more than 75 percent of cancer patients are in the advance stage. Therefore, research has been done by Rasayu to bring about a qualitative change in the lifestyle of such a large number of patients.”
“Cancer survivors are at high risk of impaired sleep quality (SQ), anxiety and depression, which can impair or worsen quality of life (QoL). The reported prevalence of insomnia amongst new or recently diagnosed cancer patients varies from 30 to 75 per cent. Therefore, it is a major obstacle in the process of responding to cancer-treatment. There are effective treatments available in Ayurveda for cancer as well as these other symptoms,” he added.
