Pune: Child development officer Vijaymala Mane, who accompanied NCP activist Rekha Jare on her journey from Pune to Nagar when she was killed last week, has said that her life is under threat as she happened to be the eye witness ( Rekha Jare Murder) of the crime.
Mane on Sunday met the cops and recorded her statement with them.
Vijaymala Mane in her statement to the cops said, “I have been one of the witnesses to the murder and hence I demand police security. Ever since that day, my blood pressure has shot up, my mother is also very scared. There are news making rounds that I have disappeared which isn’t true.”
Rekha Bhausahb Jare, a 39-year-old leader and activist associated with the Nationalist Congress Party was murdered allegedly on the instructions of journalist Advocate Dr Bal J Bothe.
Police claim that Bothe had paid blood money (supari) to another prime suspect who in turn with the help of four others killed Jare. Police have arrested the five suspects, while Bothe is absconding.
Rekha was president of the Yashaswini Mahila Brigade, a local organisation working for women’s welfare.
