New Delhi: Chinese smartphone companies gained a large market share in the Indian smartphone market by offering more premium features at a lower price. Currently, about 70 percent of the Indian smartphone market is occupied by China. This means 7 out of every 10 Indians are using Chinese smartphones. According to media report, Mukesh Ambani’s company Reliance Industries Ltd. has directed local suppliers to speed up the production of smartphones, to make more than 200 million Android-based smartphones in the next two years. With the introduction of Android smartphones, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer in India will face a tough challenge.
India’s most valuable company is in talks with mobile assembling domestic companies, which will jointly manufacture Jio’s Android smartphone. Jio’s Android smartphone will cost around Rs 4000. On behalf of the company, Jio can also launch a special kind of recharge plan for Android smartphones.
According to the report, Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani wants to establish the country’s smartphone industry firmly, just like wireless service. Apart from Jio, Dixon Technology India, Lava International and Karbonn Mobile are also growing domestic manufacturing.
