The attempt was made on Monday (February 1) afternoon but was foiled by alert bank employees. Rashmi Mahesh Mangtani (52), recovery officer of the Seva Vikas Cooperative Bank, has filed a complaint in this regard at Chinchwad police station. Based on her complaint, police have booked Moolchandani, Sharma and one person identified as Hitesh Dhage (32), residing at Kalewadi.

According to the complaint, the suspect Hitesh Dhage along with another unidentified person had entered the recovery department of the bank on February 1 at around 11.45 am. They allegedly took instructions from Moolchandani and Sharma to steal documents related to the economic offence registered against them, which were stored in the recovery room.

The suspects had managed to steal electronic data from one of the computers at the bank through their pen drive. The suspects were carrying a map of the bank and the FIR copy registered at Pimpri police station against Moolchandani and Sharma.

When the bank staff spotted them, the suspects destroyed the documents in their possession. Later it was also revealed that they had stolen a file related to Galaxy Constructions which is under investigation by the Economic Offences Wing.
