Bankipur: The Bollywood actor Shatrughan Sinha has decided to field his son Luv Sinha on a political pitch. The upcoming Bihar assembly elections will witness Luv Sinha contesting as the Congress candidate from Bankipur seat in Patna. On the Bankipur seat Luv Sinha will contest against Plural’s party Pushpam Priya and three-time BJP MLA Nitin Nabin.
Shatrughan Sinha entered parliament twice from Patna Sahib parliamentary seat on BJP ticket. Sinha won due to the multiplicity of Kayastha votes. However, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections he contested on a Congress ticket, the BJP had spoiled Shatrughan’s equation by removing second Kayastha leader Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Shatrughan Sinha has decided to hand over his political legacy to his son Luv Sinha as he is contesting from the Bankipur Assembly seat which falls under his old parliamentary seat. This seat is considered Kayastha-dominated, but Yadav, Muslim and Dalit voters make quite a share. Nitin Nabin, who hails from Kayastha community for the last three decades, is being elected, whereas earlier his father Nabin Kishore Sinha has represented Bankipur.
Luv Sinha can receive support of the Grand Alliance due to contesting from the Congress ticket. Apart from this, Kayasthas can also breach votes, because Shatrughan has been an MP twice here and can gather support to win his son.
However, BJP’s Nitin Nabin is a MLA from here three times and is contesting the election for the fourth. Sushma Sahu, a former BJP leader and a member of the National Commission for Women will contest as an independent candidate. Apart from this, Pushpam Priya, who has entered politics through advertisements in newspapers, calls herself the future Chief Minister of Bihar will contest from Bankipur.
Sushma Sahu of Sahu Samaj, which comes under Vaishya Samaj, has increased tension for BJP candidate Naveen Nitin, because Vaishya Samaj is considered to be the originator of BJP. Pushpam Priya Chaudhary is another tough competitor for the seat of Bankipur. The Congress has made the contest more interesting by bringing Shatrughan Sinha’s elder son Luv Sinha in politics to contest from the Bankipur assembly constituency.
