Pimpri Chinchwad sieze 20 crore worth Mephedrone drug from Chakan, five from Shirur arrested

Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad police have seized mephedrone drug (MD) worth Rs 20 crore from Chakan area near Pimpri-Chinchwad city. The anti-narcotics cell (ANC) of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate raided the location in Chakan area on Wednesday (October 7) afternoon and recovered the banned substance from the possession of the suspects

The ANC has arrested five suspects in this regard. The suspects have been identified as Chetan Phakkad Dandawate (28), a resident of Malthan in Shirur taluka, Anandgir Madhugir Gosavi (25), a resident of Jalgaon and currently residing at Akole in Shirur, Akshay Shivaji Kale (25), a resident of Pacharne Mala in Shirur, Sanjeevkumar Bansi Raut (44), a resident of Jharkhand and currently residing in Uttar Pradesh) and Tausif Hasan Mohammad Taslim (31), a resident of Muzaffarnagar and presently staying in Noida.

Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Shakir Janedi has filed a complaint in this regard at the Chakan police station. According to police sources, Assistant PSI Shakir Janedi of ANC received a tipoff that the suspects are reaching Pimpalgaon for sale of MD. Janedi informed his seniors and the team laid a trap near Chakan to nab the suspects. A car worth Rs 5 lakh along with MD worth Rs 20 crores was seized from the possession of the suspects.

Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash, Additional Police Commissioner Ramnath Pokale, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhir Hiremath, Assistant Commissioner of Police R R Patil instructed the local police teams during the raid. Police Inspector Shriram Pol, Assistant Police Inspector Mahale, Assistant PSI Janedi and other police personnel took part in the action.

Mephedrone is a powerful stimulant that’s often compared to drugs like cocaine and ecstasy. Recently some Bollywood actors and others were arrested on charges of consumption and dealing with several drugs including mephedrone.
