Pune: Meet this trio who stole items including CCTVs from one hotel to start another of their own

Pune : Rural police have arrested three suspects on charges of stealing several items from a hotel in Tulapur near Wagholi. Interestingly, the trio used these items to start their own hotel on Ashtapur – Uruli Kanchan road.

Police have identified the suspects as Manoj Rambhau Kaniche (28), Rahul Rambhau Kaniche (23) and Vishal Madhukar Umbre (20), all residents of Tulapur in Haveli tehsil of Pune district. Prasanna Shambhu Hegde has filed a complaint against the three suspects on the basis of which a FIR was registered at Lonikand police station.

According to police, the complainant Prasanna Hegde owns a hotel named Triveni in Tulapur area of Haveli tehsil of Pune district. Hegde had gone to his native place during the lockdown. His hotel was locked and closed during the lockdown period. The suspects committed burglary at his hotel and stole cooking utensils, fridge, deep freezer, mixer, grinder, LED TV, CCTV, DVR all worth a total Rs 66 thousand.

The suspects then used these stolen items to start their own hotel in another village. When Hegde returned from his village and checked his hotel, he realised that the entire items in the hotel were stolen by someone. Thereafter he lodged a complaint with the Lonikand police regarding this.

While investigating the complaint, police teams check for all hotels, lodges and road side dhabas for clues. Police constables Balasaheb Sakate and Rishikesh Vyavahare received a tipoff about a new hotel named Rajyog started 15 days back on Ashtapur – Uruli Kanchan road in Pimpri-Sandas village jurisdiction.

When the police team checked the Rajyog hotel, they found that the suspects were using all old utensils and items. When the suspects were interrogated, they revealed that they had stolen the items from the Triveni hotel in Tulapur. Hegde also identified his hotel items.
