Know why Anand Mahindra fulfilled his promise made a year back

Mumbai: A year ago, D. Krishna Kumar made his 70-year-old mother travel 57,000 km on a Bajaj Chetak scooter. He was once again in the news as he received promised car from Anand Mahindra as a gift for his selfless deed. On 18 September 2020, a new Mahindra KUV100 was given to Kumar from the Mysore Indian Garage on behalf of the Mahindra Company. Kumar’s mother was also present during acquiring the car. After getting the new car, Kumar took his mother to pray at the Chamundeshwari temple.

Anand Mahindra was fascinated with the Kumar’s story which went viral on social media, after which he decided to give the new Mahindra KUV100 as a gift to Kumar. Kumar has known to be as ‘Shravan Kumar’ of Kali yug on social media as for quiting is job and fulfilling his mother’s wish

39-year-old D Krishna Kumar decided to quit his job to take his mother on pilgrimage. He took his mother on Bajaj went Chetak scooter to roam India and visit holy places offer. The whole country appreciated this selfless service of the son. Whoever heard the story of Kumar was convinced.

Krishna Kumar and his mother has covered around 57,000 kms on an old Bajaj Chetak scooter. He then wanted to spent more time with his mother and that is why he took her to all the holy places as a pilgrim. In order to make this possible, he had slightly modified the rear seat of the Chetak scooter so that, his mother doesn’t feel tired on such long journeys.

Earlier, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra had offered a tractor to a farmer named Gungi Bhuiyan of Gaya, which was widely appreciated by users on Twitter. Bhuiyan alone dug continuously for thirty years and prepared a canal about three kilometers long.

A netizen tagged in a tweet attracting attention of Mr. Mahindra-Gaya Ke Loongi Majhi spent 30 years of his life digging the canal. He still needs nothing but a tractor. He has told me that if he gets a tractor, it will be a big help. In response to this tweet, Anand Mahindra wrote, “It will be my privilege to give them a tractor.”

Bajaj Chetak scooter did not break down once and the only issue he had faced was just a puncture after covering 16,000 kms. The duo did not go for hotels during the road trip. As this was a pilgrimage, they preferred staying in mutts. The scooter was modified to serve the purpose and was equipped with essentials like fruits, cucumber, beaten rice, knife, rain coats, mattress and so on.
