Loss of 3 lakh 81 thousand hectares in Solapur in October, proposal of Rs 482 crore’s compensation

Solapur : Heavy rains in Solapur district in October caused a flood situation. The state government had ordered immediate inquiry into the farmers’ losses. The inquiries into the October losses have been completed. 3 lakh 81 thousand 462 hectares have been damaged in the district. About 3 lakh 95 thousand 19 farmers have been directly affected. A proposal of Rs. 482 crore has been sent to the government by the district administration to help these affected farmers.

About 3 lakh 13 thousand 803 hectares of horticulture and arable land has been affected in the district. The 67 thousand hectare orchard area has been hit by heavy rains. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced compensation of Rs 10,000 per hectare for horticulture and arable crops and Rs 25,000 per hectare for fruit crops. A proposal of Rs 482 crore has been submitted to the state government as per the norms announced.

According to the rules of NDRF, the flood victims also get help from the central government. According to the Centre’s rules, the subsidy is Rs 6800 per hectare for arable and horticultural land and Rs 18,000 per hectare for fruit crops. According to the Centre’s norms, Rs 335 crore can be provided for the affected areas in the district. The proposal will be sent to the Center by the State Government.

The highest loss in Solapur district was in Barshi taluka. In Barshi taluka alone, 68 thousand 868 hectare crop area has been affected. After that in Pandharpur taluka 65 thousand hectares, in Akkalkot taluka 43 thousand 524 hectares, Sangola 26 thousand 766 hectares, Madha 43 thousand 912 hectares, Mohol 27 thousand 136 hectares, Mangalvedha 31 thousand 503 hectares, Malshiras 16 thousand 16909 hectares, South Solapur 21 thousand 600 hectares, North Solapur 18 thousand 12 hectares and Karmalya 18 thousand 230 hectares crop area has been damaged.

The worst affected crops in the district are tur, sugarcane and soybean. Out of the total affected area, 59 thousand 848 hectare area is tur, 54 thousand 705 hectare sugarcane and 48 thousand 525 hectare soybean area is affected. After that, pomegranate in 38 thousand 539 hectare area, maize in 34 thousand 768 hectare area, grapes in 16 thousand 240 hectare area and banana in 5 thousand 522 hectare area were severely damaged, informed District Agriculture Superintendent Ravindra Mane.
