Pune: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predictions have come true this time. Pune city received moderate to heavy showers in some areas while light rainfall was recorded in some parts on Thursday (January 7) evening since 6pm. Overall, the city received 6.6 mm rainfall in just over two hours.
The IMD had forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning between January 6 to 8. The city was witnessing cloudy and overcast sky since last week and hence the winter chill was also missing.
Rains started in Khandala-Lonavala area near Pune on Thursday afternoon at around 3pm.

South-west parts of Pune city started receiving rainfall at around 5pm. Some parts like Hadapsar, Kondhwa, Marketyard, Kothrud area received heavy spells from 6 to 8pm.

Kharadi and eastern parts of Pune city got drizzles till about 9pm.

As per IMD forecast, city will witness heavier downpour of about 20mm on January 8.
