Pune: COVID19 protocols like social distancing, wearing masks and limited number of guests were brazenly flouted during the wedding ceremony of BJP MLA Ram Satpute, a close aide of former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis – that took place in the city.

Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Pune MP Girish Bapat, Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Praveen Darekar, Nitesh Rane, Gopichand Padalkar, and Harshvardhan Patil were present for the wedding.

The district administration has restricted the number of guests allowed for a marriage ceremony. The district administration and police officials take action against the marriage hall owners, event managers and concerned parties if the COVID19 norms are flouted during the ceremony. However, politicians seem to be ‘protected’ from such actions even though they brazenly flout all norms to curb the pandemic.

Who is Ram Satpute
Satpute hails from Bhamburdi village of Malshiras tehsil, a highly drought-prone region of Solapur district. His father worked with the Shankar Cooperative Sugar Factory between 1990 and 1995 as a sugar cane harvester.

Ram Satpute did his schooling in Malshiras and then moved to Pune for higher education. He is an engineering student of the Pune Vidyarthi Griha (PVG). He entered student politics as an activist of the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He was made the vice-president of the BJP Yuva Morcha soon after he joined the ABVP.
