Pune: Demolition drive at Sinhagad Road, two illegal 5-storeyed buildings brought down

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted a demolition drive on Sinhagad road on Tuesday (November 24). Two illegal five-storeyed buildings were brought down by the building department squad of the PMC.

The buildings were located at Survey Number 45 in Wadgaon Budruk. The area is reserved for Bio Diversity Park (BDP). The PMC has not given permission to construct buildings on areas under reservation for BDP. However, certain builders had constructed buildings there. They were issued notices by the PMC after which the demolition drive was conducted. Police protection was provided to the demolition squad during the action.

The total area demolished under this drive was 16 thousand square feet of permanent RCC structure. The squad was led by Superintendent Engineer Yuvraj Deshmukh of Building department of PMC. The squad comprised of Executive Engineer Namdev Gambhire, Deputy Engineer Rahul Salunkhe, Pratap Dhaygude, Kailas Karale and others. Police Inspector Devidas Gheware, Assistant Police Inspector Prashant Kanse and other staff from Sun City Police Station provided security during the drive.
