Pune: A shocking incident took place recently at Nhavara in Shirur taluka where a woman was raped and her eye gouged out by the molester. The accused has been arrested by Pune Police.
The incident caused a stir in the entire area. There was an atmosphere of fear among the people. But the citizens have expressed relief over the arrest of the suspect by the Pune police.
According to police, the victim was stabbed by a man of short height, whose face was covered with red cloth. He then tried to kill her by seriously injuring her eyes. A case was registered at Shirur police station in this regard. Shikrapur police have arrested the accused today.
The incident took place on November 3. The victim was admitted to Sassoon Hospital for treatment. The victim is a resident of Bidgar-Suryavanshi in Nhavare village. She had gone to toilet at around 9 pm when a man started looking at her.
The woman resisted his advances after which he attacked her and took out one of her eyes. The other eye was also seriously injured.
When the victims family members reached the spot to search for her, she was critically injured. The incident was immediately reported to the police. Police immediately rushed to the spot and took note of the situation.
The woman was later admitted to Sassoon Hospital in Pune for treatment. According to medical experts, the victims second eye is also damaged. Taking serious note of the incident, Pune (Rural) Superintendent of Police Dr. Abhinav Deshmukh, Additional District Superintendent of Police Milind Mohite, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rahul Dhas, Shirur Police Inspector Praveen Khanapure started a thorough investigation and arrested the accused.
