Pune: ‘Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan’ founder chief Sambhaji Bhide also popularly known as Bhide Guruji visited the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Samadhi at Vadhu Budruk on Saturday (January 9) evening at around 4.30 pm to 5 pm.

However, Bhide was asked to leave the place immediately by Shikrapur police who landed there when they got information about Bhide’s arrival at the village. Bhide paid visit to a bereaved family at Wajewadi in Shirur tehsil and then proceeded towards Pune city.

A FIR has been registered against Bhide on January 2, 2018 on charges of ‘orchestrating violence’ during the 200th anniversary celebrations of the Battle of Bhima Koregaon. This FIR had been registered at Pimpri police station by Bahujan Republican Socialist Party member Anita Salve, which was later transferred for investigation to the Pune Rural police.

Bhide reportedly visited the Samadhi site after seven to eight years. He was accompanied by a select group of supporters when he arrived at Vadhu Budruk. Moments later, Shikrapur police received information about Bhide’s arrival at the village. A team of policemen reached the site and asked Bhide and his supporters to leave the place immediately in order to maintain law and order in the region.

Bhide left the site immediately after police orders. He headed towards Wajewadi where he met family of Amit Tikhe, who had recently died in an accident. Bhide then left for Pune city.

Police Inspector Umesh Tavaskar said, “We at Shikrapur police station receive daily intelligence inputs and act upon it. We are particularly very alert and sensitive about movements happening around the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj samadhi site.”
