Shimla : A prisoner serving life imprisonment in a Himachal jail is taking an online class of 10th-12th class students. This has happened at a time when many have lost their jobs during the Corona period and they have been forced to sit at home. A well-known company taking online classes has hired a prisoner as a science teacher on a package of eight lakh rupees annually.
In view of this positive attitude of the prisoner, the jail department is also helping him to move forward by giving all possible help. This is the first case in Himachal Pradesh, when an inmate has been selected by an educational institution to serve on such a large package.
The prisoner in the capital Shimla has studied at a national level technical institute. In 2010, his girlfriend died while both were trying to commit suicide and he survived, this one incident changed his life. He was charged with the murder case and got life imprisonment. Meanwhile, DG Jail Somesh Goyal started every hand work campaign to provide work to the skilled prisoners. In the initial stages, the prison department started receiving services for technical work from this prisoner who got technical education. After this, they also took help in making software for the recruitment examination of the jail department.
Being educated, he started teaching youth at a local coaching center last year. His way of teaching was so good that even children started showing interest in learning from him. Some time ago, he was hired by a reputed company of the country to teach online science classes. DG Jail said that it is necessary to help those who are sentenced for any reason to move forward. Such efforts have been made, with the help of industries and companies, a big change can be made in the lives of prisoners.
