Former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi Tests Coronavirus Positive

New Delhi: Taking to twitter on Wednesday former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi informed that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. “I have been tested Covid-19 positive yesterday. People who came in contact with me during last few days, they should go for Covid test immediately,” he tweeted.

Tarun Gogoi’s family member said that he is now in home isolation and his health condition is good. On Tuesday, two more Assam MLAs had tested positive for the new virus.

Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita and Congress MLA Ajanta Neog were suffering from fever and were tested positive for Covid-19. Assam reported 1,973 coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the state tally to 94,592.

Out of the new cases, 510 cases were detected in Kamrup (Metro) district, 149 cases in Cachar district, 132 cases in Jorhat district, 121 cases in Kamrup (Rural) district, 116 cases in Dibrugarh district. Meanwhile, eight more persons died due to the deadly virus in the state in last 24 hours, taking to the state death toll to 260.
