MP : 90-year-old IIT Passout Found Begging on The Streets

Gwalior: A 90-year-old man, identified as Surendra Vashisht, who claims to be an IIT Kanpur pass-out has been found begging on the roadside on the streets of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.

According to the Times of India, IIT pass-out Surendra has been helped by an organization, which also helped Manish Mishra, the former cop who was found by his batchmates in an impoverished condition on the streets.

Vikas Goswami, who is with Ashram Swarna Sadan, said, “We saw Surendra near the bus stand in very bad conditions. When I started talking to him, he started talking in English. We explained to him and brought him to the ashram. We also tried to talk to his family.”

Surendra told the people of the ashram that in 1969 he had studied mechanical engineering in Kanpur. He did LLM in 1972. His father was a supplier at Jesse Mill. The company later closed.

Earlier, DSP Ratnesh Tomar and Vijay Bhadauria had seen a beggar in the street. This person’s name is Manish Mishra. He has been in a similar situation for the last 10 years. He was a 1999 batch police officer and was known at the time as an accurate shooter. He worked as a police officer in different police stations in Madhya Pradesh. But around 2005, he began to suffer mentally. The disease worsened his mental state. But, now he is recovering with the help of this organization
